Yi Lu, born in 1998 in the sleepy industrial town of Huainan, graduated in 2022 from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film & TV Production.

Review by ShortFilmsMatter Drama teacher Amelia cuts off her miserable marriage with a pair of scissors. When her ingenuous student Sophia shows up for a rehearsal, Amelia hides the scissors along with her deepest longings. However, through the lines of “Twelfth Night,” an emotional and spiritual bond is revealed between the duo.

Inspired by the character fusion in Bergman's Persona and Shakespeare's technique of echoing lines between characters, I explore themes of identity and transformation. By blending traditional elements with innovative techniques, I aim to offer a fresh perspective on the interplay of roles and the fluidity of identity in this timeless narrative.
