Yi Lu, born in 1998 in the sleepy industrial town of Huainan, graduated in 2022 from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film & TV Production.

An old, stubborn veteran conducts a funeral for himself on the past battleground and reveals that he was no war hero but a deserter instead.

"A Funeral" is a film that delves into the complex identity of a hero, challenging the boundaries of individualism and patriotism. The story grapples with the question: can a person be seen as a traitor to their country while simultaneously being a hero to their family? Through this exploration, I aim to provoke thought and discussion on the nuanced and often conflicting dimensions of loyalty, honor, and personal integrity.
